TIGER OF MALAY COLT
A precocious colt who is powerfully built and was a clear standout at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, to be trained by Peter Snowden, one of the best trainers of 2YOs in Australian racing history.
The collaboration between Straight Six Racing’s Michael Ward and Snowden Racing is an enticing one, given the phenomenal success they have shared in the past with racetrack stars such as:
– Redzel, the dual-Everest winner, Champion Sprinter and highest syndicated prizemoney earner in history,
– Mazu, an Everest placegetter who has contested 3 editions of the race, and
– Revolutionary Miss, a Golden Slipper runner and multiple Group 1 performer.
These three horses alone have achieved combined prizemoney of nearly $30m so far.
This new colt, which Peter describes as “a great mover”, is sired by Tiger of Malay, a son of Extreme Choice, the most sought-after stallion in Australia. Both Tiger of Malay and Extreme Choice were highly talented early-running 2YOs. Tiger of Malay was an outstanding 2YO, winning the Kirkham Plate on debut at Randwick before going on to take out the $1 million Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes and the sire-making Group 3 Up and Coming Stakes, which has previously been won by leading stallions Snitzel, Fastnet Rock and Exceed and Excell.
The female side of this colt also brings real class and speed. The dam, Our Total Recall (NZ), is sired by NZ Champion Sprinter and 5-time Group 1 winner Darci Brahma and out of the speedy Group 1 performer Reminisce.
This athletic colt is BOBS eligible and nominated for the $12m Inglis Race Series which is restricted to Inglis graduates. He will also be nominated for the $5m Golden Slipper.
